What is the difference between space and universe.
Space is three dimensional zone of everywhere. The universe is itself a space, it has no starting point and and endless. Everything in the universe is occupied within the space. The empty zone or volume of a bottle is a space, the region between earth and sun is a space.
Space is a big mystery for everyone, from ancient time humans has a desire to explore the outer world and to fulfill this desire scientists are continuously exploring space but still we haven't explored much as much, it is like a trend for everyone to know more about space and universe and during this age there many great Scientists have given their theories which have played an important role in space exploration, today they might be not present with us but still their theories are helping us in many ways and this will help us in future too.
We cannot study space as an individual topic because it is relative to time, to understand the space the best way is to study the theory of Einstein based on it which is known as General theory of relativity but it is not easy for everyone to understand but there are also some basic things from which you can understand space. Space is divided into many parts according to the reference body or distance level.
Outer Space
Outer space start from above the
Kรกrmรกn line, it is an imaginary boundary which is located at the altitude of 100km which is equal to 62 miles approx from the sea level where the atmosphere of the earth starts disappearing and from there the outer space begins. It has a hard vacuum but it is not completely empty, there are some very small and less dense particle are present. Outer space looks dark with some small lighted points which can be any object reflecting or emitting light. This is because there is no air. So the phenomena of scattering of light doesn't take place which makes outer space a dark place.
Cislunar space
Cislunar space is the region or volume between the Earth and the orbit of the moon. The Moon revolves around the Earth in elliptical path or orbit and region which comes within this orbit of Moon is known as Cislunar Space. All artificial satellite and the International Space Station which orbit around the Earth is located in between this region.
Interplanetary space
Interplanetary space is the region or volume between planets in a star system. Interplanetary space is not completely empty because there are many things which us travelling within this space like asteroids, comets, cosmic rays which come from sun, solar winds which also comes from sun and many other waves and particles. The temperature varies depending on the distance from the sun and the presence of gases.
Plasma comes out as solar wind and travels through the solar system. The space between the planets is filled with these solar winds. This space between the planets is known as
heliosphere or Interplanetary space.
Interstellar Space.
There are many star system like Solar system in our Milky Way galaxy. They also have one or more than one star and planets. They also have heliosphere. The space between these heliosphere is known as Interstellar Space. There are some man made Objects which travel through the interstellar space which always gives information about the interstellar Space to the space researchers, like Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. Interstellar space is not completely empty. There are cosmic ray which always travel through interstellar from different stars and some gas particles are also present within it in the form of ions.
Intergalactic Space
Before discussing this space we have to know something about galaxies because this space us related to the word 'galaxy'.
Galaxy is a group of objects present in space like stars, dust particles, planets, rocks and many more which is arranged in a particular shape and size. Mainly there are three types of galaxies spiral galaxy, elliptical galaxy and irregular galaxies. Mostly there is a supermassive black hole present in the center of galaxy and due to it's gravitational force the arrangement of object in a galaxy take place.
For example Milky Way is is a type of spiral galaxy and a black hole is present in it's center which is know as Sagittarius A* .
There are many galaxies of different colours, shape and size in the universe. The difference between these galaxies seem to be endless the distance between these galaxies is so much and the space is almost vacuum such that there is only 1 atom of hydrogen in one cubic meter.
Fir example:- Our solar system is in Milky Way galaxy and it's nearest galaxy is Andromeda galaxy so the space or void which is present in between between these galaxies is called Intergalactic space.
Universe
Universe is the word which describe everything which is present in space like planets, stars, moons, galaxies. Universe is made up of dark matter, dark energy, matter, energy. We can say that universe is everything within space. After the big bang, universe is continuously expanding from everything point. It has no definite point as it is expanding from everywhere in the space.
